China's NPC Standing Committee Revises and Passes National Defense Mobilization Law, Expanding Requisition and Conscription of Civilian Resources

On August 28, 2026, China's Standing Committee of the National People's Congress voted to pass the revised National Defense Mobilization Law, expanding the disposal of civilian resources from conscription to include both requisition and conscription, and for the first time specifying provisions on wartime information management and compulsory performance of contracts.
