As the Chinese Communist Party carries out united front work and exports corruption worldwide, it has reached the point of utter shamelessness, fully embodying the mindset of "if I'm not embarrassed, you're the embarrassed one." Recently, a report by CNBC exposed a bizarre case of Chinese Communist Party infiltration into the United States. Sixty-five-year-old economist Rogers served as a senior adviser at the Federal Reserve for decades, and in July of this year, he was investigated for sharing sensitive Federal Reserve information with Chinese Communist Party intelligence operatives. During the investigation, this fellow also lied to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and in the end, he was sentenced by a federal court to 38 months in prison. The federal judge essentially declared that such arrogance would not go unpunished. Well, as the saying goes, in a big forest there are all kinds of birds, and with enough cases, strange stories are hardly surprising. Federal prosecutor Nicholas Hunter told the jury that the course of this case reads very much like a spy novel, featuring sex, money, manipulation, secret meetings with suspicious figures in China, fake identities, lies, deception, and trickery. Put it this way, whatever elements exist in any transnational crime case, they are all present here. So today, let us follow CNBC's report to broaden our horizons and open our eyes.
According to CNBC's review, in 2013, 13 years ago, economist Rogers attended a conference at Fudan University in Shanghai. During a break, a tall young Chinese man approached Rogers. The man identified himself as Hummin Lee, a doctoral student. The FBI later identified that Lee was a real name, but this Lee was not the Chinese pinyin 'Li', but the Korean 'Lee', presumably to frame South Korea if something went wrong. This Lee's real name was Jin Chuan, a transliteration of the Chinese pinyin Jin Chuan, and he was a spy for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Rogers had no idea where this Lee came from. Since then, Lee and Rogers kept in touch via email and added each other as friends on Facebook. Lee also invited Rogers to give lectures at universities in China. Ralph Goff, a former senior CIA official, analyzed that the CCP authorities must have started targeting Rogers long before he met Lee. At the time, Rogers was a single father whose four children had all grown up and left home. He often visited an Asian dating website and sent nude photos of himself to others, which may have attracted the attention of the CCP. The CIA's Goff believed that given Rogers' position at the time, he would have been a very valuable target. Rogers was then a senior advisor in the Federal Reserve's international finance division, with access to internal information from one of the world's most important and difficult-to-penetrate financial institutions. As the saying goes, flies do not bite seamless eggs; the CCP had targeted Rogers as an egg with a crack and was ready to strike.
After Trump was elected US President in 2016, Lee sent an email to Rogers, mentioning a Christmas gift he had just sent, a traditional Chinese painting, and asked a pointed question: Trump seems unfriendly to China, and some news says he will list China as a currency manipulator. Is this true? What is your view on this? Merry Christmas. But Rogers did not answer this question in his reply. A week later, Rogers met a young woman with a charming smile, Yu, on an Asian dating website, and the two soon developed a romantic relationship. Yu lived in Shanghai and wrote excellent English. Rogers thought her English was very fluent, but later met her and realized that Yu could not speak English at all. CIA agent Goff believes that even if this woman was not arranged by the CCP intelligence agency, it is certain that shortly after she contacted Rogers, the CCP intelligence agency had already met with this woman, the one surnamed Yu, and asked her to continue developing the relationship. In May of the following year, Rogers accepted Lee's invitation to give lectures at two universities in China, during which he met with Yu. After Rogers returned to the United States, the two began to talk about marriage and having children. Shortly after, Rogers wrote to Lee, hoping to be invited again to teach at a university in China, and to stay in Shanghai for a few days to meet with Yu. Lee made thoughtful arrangements and stated that he would cover all expenses for Rogers to come to China to meet Yu and so on. He was responsible for arranging the entire itinerary and lecture activities, and arranged for Rogers and Yu to take the train together to and from different cities in China. During this meeting, Yu became pregnant.
In the development of the relationship between Rogers and Yu, Lee played an important role, including assisting in arranging Rogers' trip to China, providing financial assistance, handling Yu's divorce from her husband, and organizing the wedding. Rogers later told Federal Reserve investigators, 'That person seemed to know everything,' referring to Lee. In March 2018, Rogers and Yu married in Hong Kong. Lee arranged the itinerary and details of the wedding and served as a witness to their prenuptial agreement. Rogers later admitted to investigators that he owed Lee many favors, saying, 'Without him, there would be no child, and the relationship between my wife and me would not have happened. Although we met online, without him, none of this would have happened. I love him like my own buddy.' As Lee became more deeply involved in Rogers' life, he also began to demand key sensitive information from within the Federal Reserve from Rogers. Lee also introduced Rogers to his superior, a man known as Professor Cui. Professor Cui pressed Rogers for rumors and inside information about the Federal Reserve and had provided him with a stack of cash. When federal agents searched Rogers' residence, they found $55,000 in cash, some of which was in a white plastic shopping bag at the bottom of a closet. The source of this cash could not be explained. It was also this Lee who arranged for Rogers to travel to China regularly to teach, but the courses were often held in hotel rooms with only a few participants. Later, US prosecutors testified that in two photos taken by Rogers, the people in the photos were all from the CCP's state security and intelligence agencies.
During this period, Lee's demands to Rogers for Federal Reserve information steadily increased; he even suggested that Rogers ask colleagues or dig through documents to find answers. On one occasion, the day before flying to China, Rogers printed out two documents. According to Federal Reserve regulations, one of them belonged to Class I, typically used by Fed staff to produce economic forecasts, reserved exclusively for the use of the Federal Open Market Committee, and involving confidential operations of buying and selling bonds—some of the most sensitive activities of the Fed. The other document was a key summary prepared by a Fed economist for a briefing to the Board of Governors, to be used before the Federal Open Market Committee meeting. The report also stated that after Rogers's marriage with Yu broke down, he sent nude photos of himself online to several accounts using photos of attractive women, which ultimately led to his downfall. Soon, the people behind those accounts began blackmailing Rogers, threatening to send his nude photos to the Federal Reserve. Frightened, Rogers reported everything that had happened to his superiors one day in 2020, and was forced to resign in 2021. Shortly after leaving the Federal Reserve, Rogers began teaching at Fudan University in Shanghai. On the Fudan University website, Rogers is listed as a professor of economics at the School of International Finance, with the profile stating, "He served in the Federal Reserve for 27 years" and formerly as a senior advisor in the International Finance Division of the Fed. What he did not know, however, was that the Fed had already referred the case to the FBI.
Three years later, Rogers was arrested. He was charged with one count of making false statements to investigators and one count of conspiracy to commit economic espionage. The focus of the case is whether Rogers was a spy or a fool utilized by Chinese intelligence agencies. His defense lawyers argued that Rogers did not provide any valuable information to the Chinese Communist Party and that he was merely a naive scholar inadvertently drawn into espionage. Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia prosecuting Rogers, stated that John Rogers secretly funneled sensitive Federal Reserve information to Chinese Communist Party spies for years, then looked investigators in the eye and lied, and when that wasn't enough, lied again under oath during his trial. In February of this year, the jury found Rogers guilty of making false statements to investigators, but not guilty of conspiracy to commit economic espionage. In July, Rogers was sentenced to 38 months in federal prison. Although Rogers was not convicted of espionage, Goff, that CIA agent, believes that the Rogers case represents a victory for the U.S. government. When asked if he thought the Chinese Communist Party was still attempting to infiltrate the Federal Reserve, Goff answered absolutely. History has proven that the Chinese Communist Party cancer harms the whole world, and it is truly time to settle accounts.
An urgent poll: Do you think that after Rogers was arrested, the Chinese Communist Party will stop co-opting and corrupting insiders at the Federal Reserve? The options are: 1. Yes; 2. Yes, it will temporarily slow down; 3. Absolutely not; 4. Unsure, continue to observe. Welcome to type the number in the comment section. In the Chinese Communist Party's country, opposing Japan is political correctness and must be done with high profile. The question is, what if you play against Japan and lose, losing face, what then? Mother Party says, cold mix it, just cover it up with tree leaves. Isn't that right, Chinese judo star Tang Jing was judged as losing the match and was even disqualified. However, this news, under the brush of the Chinese Communist Party's official media, was photoshopped into "Tang Jing stopped in the women's 70kg quarterfinals" and "regrettably eliminated." I timidly ask, what is regrettable? Regrettable that she didn't bite a chunk of meat off the opponent to make the news.
On October 1, a bizarre scene unfolded at the judo venue of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan. In the women's 70kg quarterfinal, 31-year-old veteran Chinese judoka Tang Jing faced 21-year-old Japanese athlete Rin Maeda. After the match started, the two remained deadlocked for a long time. Tang Jing struggled to find a breakthrough and fell behind in the ground grappling exchanges. As they wrestled their way to the edge of the mat, an unexpected incident occurred: Tang Jing, in a disadvantaged position, attempted to break free and—for reasons unknown—bit her opponent's left arm, holding on for over 20 seconds. Rin Maeda immediately appealed to the referee and pulled up her judo uniform to reveal a clear, deep red bite mark on her arm. The referee did not take the matter lightly and immediately reviewed the footage to confirm, while the Chinese team coach also stepped forward to inspect. After discussion, the head referee ruled that Tang Jing lost by disqualification (hansoku-make), meaning she lost due to a foul. Rin Maeda advanced directly to the semifinals. A reporter from the Japanese media outlet THE DIGEST observed at the scene that after the verdict was announced, Tang Jing looked utterly baffled, seemingly trying to express that her mouth merely touched her opponent's arm by accident, but the panel of judges did not accept her explanation. After the match, THE DIGEST reporter rushed to the mixed zone hoping to ask Tang Jing what exactly happened at that moment. Unexpectedly, when facing the Japanese media, Tang Jing only coldly replied "No" and refused to be interviewed. Afterwards, Tang Jing did not attend the repechage matches either, effectively giving up the chance to compete for a bronze medal and prematurely ending her campaign in the Asian Games.
As everyone knows, judo has always emphasized etiquette, respect, and the spirit of martial arts. You can wrestle, put people in chokeholds, and fight using your legs, feet, hands, and arms, but biting your opponent when you cannot win crosses people's bottom lines by a wide margin. Therefore, after the incident was exposed, Japanese media continuously reported on it, focusing on the rare violation, and the matter quickly sparked heated discussions both at home and abroad. Fortunately, the mainstream sentiment criticized Tang Jing. Some people said: "Isn't biting in judo just fighting? Judo is a sport promoted by Japan to the world, starting with courtesy and ending with courtesy. Those who use such underhanded methods just to win should not practice judo at all." Others elevated the matter to a human level, stating that according to the principles of sportsmanship, this behavior should immediately result in her expulsion from judo and sports in general, describing it as an extremely despicable act for both athletes and humanity as a whole. Others remarked meaningfully: "When you cannot win through orthodox attacks and fair competition, you resort to biting, harassment, or smearing. This is not an isolated case; it is the habitual tactic when skills fall short." Little Pinks and CCP wolf warriors humbly stated: "Thank you for the high-level summary and categorization; we bite even from afar, and Tang Jing's close-range physical biting definitely deserves a thumbs-up."
There is another bizarre aspect to this affair. Some Chinese self-media outlets have become so accustomed to hating Japan that they tried to forcefully whitewash the incident, describing it as an accidental bite, while insisting on blaming Japanese media hype. They even used Douyin's AI analysis function to analyze the relevant video, and the result was most satisfactory: "The mouth accidentally touched the opponent's arm, leaving tooth marks." It truly echoes the saying: "Domestic AI belongs to the Party; please submit it for the Party's inspection." As mentioned just now, while Tang Jing suffered an inglorious defeat, Party-run and official state media claimed she had exited the competition with regret, and Little Pinks and self-media outlets forcefully whitewashed the bite as an accidental one; yet regarding President Xi's visit to the US carrying his own Made-in-Japan Hermès-style thermos—that top-tier flagship craftsmanship thermos made by Tiger of Japan—domestic media and ordinary citizens did not even see a shadow of it. Xi appeared innocent: opposing Japan is a job, but using Japanese products is life; didn't you notice that the thermos logo was covered with a piece of dark tape? For all we know, that piece of tape might just be Made in China.
Tradepub of the CCP continued to display its verbal warfare skills by playing petty tricks on people's titles to snatch minor advantages, aiming to achieve the psychological effect of winning through rhetoric. In remarks regarding the Japanese nuclear issue at a press conference on September 30, CCP Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun unusually broke with tradition by omitting the title "Japanese Prime Minister" and instead directly calling her by her name, Sanae Takaichi. Simultaneously, the official text transcript published by the CCP Foreign Ministry also deleted the four characters for "Japanese Prime Minister." Although Sanae Takaichi is the ruling party representative elected by the Japanese people, in the eyes of the CCP, as long as she refuses to abandon the stance that "a Taiwan emergency is a Japan emergency, and a matter of vital survival crisis," Sanae Takaichi does not deserve to have the words "Japanese Prime Minister" appear alongside her name in the CCP's dictionary. Beijing has continuously pressured Japan, willing to stir up another wave of anti-Japan sentiment, dissolving Japanese tour groups and cutting flights to Japan, sacrificing the business performance of travel agencies and major airlines nationwide in an attempt to force Sanae Takaichi to retract her erroneous remarks. And the result? Not only did she refuse to retract them, but she also galloped further down the path of taking a hardline stance against China. In August this year, Japan released its 2026 Defense White Paper, continuing to position the CCP nation as an unprecedented greatest strategic challenge while expressing serious concern over the CCP's continuous increase in defense budgets, rapid military buildup, and activities in regions such as the East China Sea and the Western Pacific.
The ultimate slap in the face for Xi Jinping must be that right after he left the US and just touched down in Beijing on September 26, Sanae Takaichi and Trump held a phone call that very evening. Trump not only detailed the discussions with his good friend Xi Jinping, but the two also primarily discussed economic security and security affairs related to China, confirming the continued strengthening of the US-Japan alliance. When the wolf warrior diplomats at the Ministry of Sprained Ankles saw this, they thought this was intolerable. Even if it did not amount to the sovereign being humiliated and the ministers dying, at the very least the ruler's worries should lead to the ministers' toil; at a critical moment, an attitude had to be shown, otherwise if the minister did not want to die himself, the master would still make him die. Therefore, besides the usual verbal artillery of strong condemnations, solemn representations, and strong protests, the Ministry of Sprained Ankles solemnly announced the unilateral cancellation of Takaichi's qualification as Japanese Prime Minister. The wolf warriors earnestly warned Sanae Takaichi that if she did not repent, a series of names awaited her next, such as Little Gao, Little Miao, that person surnamed Gao, that one called Sanae, that shrew with the big chin, and others. The treatment of Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi was downgraded even further; Guo Jiakun deliberately omitted his name altogether at the same press conference, referring to him only as the current head of the Japanese defense department. It was presumably because Shinjiro Koizumi visited the Yasukuni Shrine on August 15, the anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II, that his name was considered toxic and unworthy of appearing in any official Chinese document. Who could guarantee whether some little pink, upon seeing those five characters Shinjiro Koizumi, might get a rush of blood to the head and go around smashing Japanese cars everywhere.
Regarding this name-calling drama staged by the CCP Ministry of Sprained Ankles, Akio Yita, a senior media person very familiar with Chinese affairs, posted an analysis on the X platform pointing out that this is a habitual petty tactic in CCP political history. Reviewing the CCP's past political propaganda, whenever they dislike someone, their designation for that person tends to be progressively downgraded, generally following a three-step process: stripping away official titles, slapping labels on them, and giving them nicknames. Take Sanae Takaichi's current treatment, for instance; the message they want to convey is likely that I know you are a prime minister or president, but I simply refuse to call you that. That is still relatively polite. The second step is to start adding adjectives before the name and slapping labels on them, such as the warmonger Dulles, imperialist chieftain Nixon, Japanese reactionaries ringleader Eisaku Sato, and so on. This set of tactics is not only used against foreigners, but is even more ruthless against their own people. After former CCP Chairman Liu Shaoqi was overthrown, the 1968 CCP Central Document directly slapped three labels on him: traitor, turncoat, and scab. The third step is even more interesting; when even political labels seem too scholarly, they simply resort to nicknames. The most classic example is former Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev. When Sino-Soviet relations were good, he was Comrade Nikita Khrushchev, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. After the fallout, he first became just Khrushchev, then added the title of revisionist chieftain, and in the end simply became the bald Khrushchev. Akio Yita hit the nail on the head: why downgrade the titles of foreign leaders? To put it bluntly, when they can do nothing about the other party in reality, they first gain a psychological advantage in language, at least allowing themselves to feel a bit more comfortable. This is probably the Ah Q spirit written about by Lu Xun. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was once sanctioned by the CCP, said: Who is Ah Q? I don't know, but I can responsibly tell you that Beijing's words do not count. They said they sanctioned me, but as a result they changed my name from Rubio to Rubiao, and didn't I smoothly visit China after all?
There is a saying that art is higher than life, but you have to admit that sometimes life is truly higher than art. The Dubai flight high-altitude terror incident that recently made world headlines was more thrilling than a Hollywood blockbuster, and it will surely be brought to the big screen in the future. As for what conspiracy lay behind the incident, that is a matter for the Israeli government and Benjamin Netanyahu to worry about, but what people love to hear and see above all else are the interviews with the heroes on the flight. Ranking number one in popularity without a doubt belongs to that heroic Indian pilot, Captain Machar. On September 30, while executing a routine flight mission at an altitude of 10,000 meters, he was stabbed without warning by the co-pilot, and then in the critical moment of the plane entering a steep dive and plummeting over 4,000 meters in 30 seconds, he relied on astonishing willpower to drag himself and open the cockpit door, successfully averting a tragic crash. On October 2, Machar, still receiving treatment in the hospital, had a video call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi heavily praised his heroic act for saving the lives of everyone on board, commending his quick wit, adaptability, and fearless courage. Not only did he prevent the destruction of the aircraft and the death of all on board, but he also defended the reputation of Indian pilots, making all of India proud of him. You made a critical decision in fractions of a second, and today the whole nation can proudly say that we Indians saved the lives of everyone on board. The government of Machar's home state of Gujarat announced the award of the Gujarat Outstanding Honor Award to Machar, and temples across India also successively prayed for this hero captain, wishing him a speedy recovery.
In the footage, Machal is lying on a hospital bed with his head and hands wrapped in thick bandages and an oxygen tube in his nose. He said, I have flown for 17 years, and even with my eyes closed, I know exactly what was happening to the plane. When I fell to the ground, I could clearly feel the plane diving vertically. At the moment of life and death, Machal had only one thought in his mind: he must not let the passengers on board die. Machal recalled, I told myself, this is the last blow, Smith, come on, you must do it, the door is right there, just open it. During a video call with Modi lasting nearly 10 minutes, Machal shed tears at one point, revealing that at the most desperate and critical moment, he had been praying in his heart to gain courage and calmness. He said, I know it was God who saved me, because while Machal was struggling to open the door, the attacker's knife kept slashing at him, but with a firm belief, Machal still gritted his teeth to make this last blow, successfully moving his body and unlocking the cockpit door. Heaven helps those who help themselves, and next came a series of miracles and coincidences. Phoenix New Media chief writer Tang Bohu concluded after reviewing the events that there were six layers of luck, making survival statistically impossible. He said, what saved this plane was a chain of extremely low-probability coincidences; if any link had broken, the ending would have been a replay of 9/11. Let's talk about these six coincidences.
First, the co-pilot did not kill the captain. He was stabbed multiple times with a folding knife, leaving his head and hands seriously injured, but he did not die on the spot. Because Machal lived, everything that followed had a starting point. Second, the captain opened the door. The cockpit door design logic of the post-9/11 era is to prevent external intrusion. Once the door is locked from the inside, the hundreds of people in the cabin can only watch the plane crash. Machal managed to touch the release device in a near-death state; the difficulty and significance of this action cannot be overstated. It was as if he used his very last ounce of strength to put the power of the entire cabin into the cockpit. Third, the passengers in the front row rushed in immediately. There was almost no time gap between the door opening and the passengers rushing in. The reaction speed and combat skills of Hayoun and others were extremely strong because Israelis generally have military service experience and the sober judgment that if they didn't rush in, they would all die, constituting the only variable against the violence. Fourth, the attacker failed to destroy the flight control system. The attacker stood on the control pedestal and frantically smashed the flight control system, but did not completely destroy the plane. If he had pushed the stick all the way down or damaged critical control surfaces during the struggle, not even a god could have saved them. Fifth, there were two groups of backup neurons sitting in the cabin, two off-duty pilots who were originally scheduled on this flight to take over subsequent shifts. Off-duty pilots accompanying flights on high-sensitivity routes are normally a coincidence of roster management, but this time it became a life-saving necessity. From Hayoun leveling the plane using experience from air disaster documentaries to professional pilots stepping in to take over, this coincidence filled the gap. Sixth, there was a dentist on board. With high-altitude blood loss, without someone to stop the bleeding on the spot, the captain would not have made it to Tabuk. Six links, each acting as a precondition for the other, indispensable. Just as Indian Captain Machal expressed his realization that God saved him, the safe landing brought by such an ultra-low-probability combination can indeed be called a miracle. When everything is a coincidence, isn't this the inevitability of destiny in the dark?
Surfing the internet in the mainland is becoming increasingly difficult, but precisely when information is blocked, it is all the more necessary for someone to send real information inside. This is also why we are promoting this project. To thank supporting friends, there are two reward options: donate 100 USD or more to receive a paperback copy of The Naked Communist, and donate 200 USD or more to receive a hardcover copy of The Naked Communist. If breaking through the high wall of information blockade is the goal, then The Naked Communist exposes the various lies long packaged by communist ideology. We hope to help more people break through information blockages, not just see more news, but also understand the history and essence of communism, so that they can use their own minds to think independently and make judgments.
