For the Lakota people, the connection between nature and animals is indistinguishable. They see no difference; these animals are their brothers and sisters. The same goes for water and trees—nature is of utmost importance to them. Therefore, this cooperation and what it means to them is also part of the reason we are doing this. The return of the bison also symbolizes the end of a cycle and the rebirth of something new. Thus, for the Lakota and Indigenous peoples, the bison being able to return to the cities is a very hopeful and encouraging thing, whatever it may be for.
