Jiang Will Not Announce and Will Donate All $LI Holdings—We Are All Part of History
In December 2024, I traveled to Italy with some confusion to film the launch of $LI, and returned to Paris three days later with even more bewilderment. $LI's vision is to promote freedom of expression and the democratization process in China, while Teacher Li hopes to foster a community through the inspiration and participation of $LI, and then drive projects to realize the vision through the community. The cake has been drawn, but where is the community? What are the projects?
Over the past 90+ days, I have witnessed and personally participated in the operation of the $LI community with these questions in mind. From the "Ten Million Stars Return Home Plan" to "http://611STUDY.icu", and then to "https://牛马.icu", I have seen projects grow rapidly, aesthetics constantly improve, and the community has grown step by step with the selfless contributions of volunteers.
As an activist and overseas community organizer who has been away from China for over 5 years, we often discuss: What kind of changes will overseas actions bring to that land? We also often fall into self-doubt, wondering if our voices will ever have the chance to cross the Great Wall?
Once upon a time, on the then relatively open internet within the wall, a slogan circulated: "Watching changes China." Netizens at the time believed that as long as they continued to speak out on the internet and pay attention to social issues, they could force the government to change through public opinion pressure. Today, through the work of the $LI community, "watching" has in a sense truly changed China. Schools on "http://611STUDY.icu" announced holidays again after they had already started, and schools in many provinces and cities have postponed their opening. Even Principal Wang Jiangang of Beihai Middle School in Guangxi specifically pointed out that "Teacher Li is an external factor that suddenly led to a two-day weekend after the Spring Festival." The "https://牛马.icu" that has just been launched is also gradually fermenting its influence. In fact, this is not only the effort of Teacher Li and the $LI community, but also the combined force of every participant who faces fear directly, and every contributor who tells the truth. Everyone is important, and everyone shares the honor.
Compared to the specific effects achieved by the projects, what is more important is the imagination it provides after breaking atomization. If we don't know what victory is, we can only be conquered. But in fact, we are far more powerful than they want us to believe. Whether we like it or not, we are caught in the tide of history. It's just that most people are somewhat numb and slow to realize history. In the Age of Discovery, how many ordinary people knew who Columbus was, or where the New World was? "Some people wait for favors, while others try to write their own history."

I hope this donation can give rise to more valuable projects in the $LI community in the future. The small actions of each individual will eventually build history and become the cornerstone of that free China in the future.
