It seems we have entered a state of a "Chinese vacuum period."

Seeing man-made disasters, a single notice of 35 deaths, people seem to have no sighs, no sadness, no anger... no emotional expression at all. It is as if people were just waiting for a notice; the notice arrives, uh, 35 of them.

People shake their heads and go back to scrolling Douyin and Kuaishou.

Even before they were ready to process the emotions for this, Wuxi happened.

News is indeed no longer news.

The main reason it is not news is that we have seen too many notices.

There is no need to count the frequency of blue-background white-text notices; people already know what to do: don't ask "what happened," just adapt to "it is what it is."

This is a state of life; it's already like this, what else can be done, just let it be, otherwise what else can be done.

It is not an unconscious act. Looking back over a period of time, even if time could start over, it seems it could only be like this.

In life, news and media as mediums have disappeared, and a vacuum has emerged.

Perhaps some have noticed that the problem with the emergence of the vacuum is that many molecules that constitute a non-vacuum have disappeared. The main function of these molecules is to question and disbelieve.

In a vacuum state, everyone is too lazy to pretend, so they just stop pretending altogether.

People no longer need the truth, no longer need to ask questions, and don't care whether there is accountability or not.

Accepting lies as reasonably existing in a state of turning a blind eye, deception also exists in a reasonable state, and as for scolding, admonition... they also reasonably exist.

Numb to lying, even too lazy to ask why they lie, and too lazy to ask why it is like this, everyone follows the routine, more like AI than AI, actively walking towards their respective ends.

As for whether the end is an accident, or random, starving to death or being hit to death, overeating to death or dying of joy, dying of old age or illness... feeling that death is death anyway, there is no specific difference, people don't even care much about how they die.
