Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the outbreak of rescue operations after physical conflicts, multiple police officers and firefighters died during the rescue. Welles Remy Crowther, a Wall Street trader and volunteer firefighter, tragically lost his life while saving people, and his red bandana became an iconic item. The fires at the ruins of the New York World Trade Center burned continuously for three months, and rescue and cleanup operations lasted for nine months. Hundreds of public servants from the New York City Police Department, the Port Authority Police Department, the Court, and the Fire Department sacrificed their lives.
