The medical journal The Lancet published a research report indicating that between 1990 and 2023, the disease burden of mental disorders in China increased significantly. In 2023, the estimated number of patients was about 191 million, an increase of 45.6% compared to 1990. Depression and anxiety disorders accounted for over 60%, and the prevalence of eating disorders grew the fastest. The report suggests that socioeconomic transition, competitive pressure, and demographic changes are the main inducing factors.
